The man pleaded guilty last year to one count of assault causing bodily harm after he spanked his son so hard there were bruises on the boy's buttocks.... According to the man, the children misbehaved during supper, and he struck them, three times each, on their bare buttocks.Setting aside how I feel about spanking in general, this is far beyond spanking. If you're hitting your kid hard enough to leave bruises, and hitting him on his bare bottom, those are some SERIOUS issues. I won't hesitate for one second to call this abusive. It disgusts me that people treat children this way. Look, instead of taking your child's clothes off and hitting him hard enough to leave bruises, why don't you just be a PARENT and correct the actual behavior? Is it really that hard?

Man Jailed for "Spanking" Son
Earlier this week, this news story came out of Canada. A man was sentenced to 45 days in jail for spanking his six year old son. The article says:

Yeah, that's pretty messed up. As a child I was with spanking as a common thing. While I don't agree with the stance that spanking is wrong, actions like this make it clear that some people are not fit to be parents.
